Luke 1:37
“Nothing is impossible with God.” This doesn’t mean that God is a cosmic Santa Clause running about doing whatever I ask. But, it does mean that, if God chooses to do something for His glory there is nothing He can’t do.Christmas is such a huge illustration of the limitlessness of God. A virgin gets pregnant without a man. The baby is both God and human. If this stuff weren’t true it’d be tough to swallow.
So, what’s going on in your life this Christmas that you’re not sure God is big enough to handle? Is your marriage struggling? Having friend problems? Or is it that God is asking you to do something and you’re afraid it will fail? For example, is there someone that God is asking you to tell about Jesus during this time of year?
Check out Mary’s response to this truth. Mary answered, “I am the Lord’s servant.” If God is so big and so awesome that “NOTHING” is impossible for HIM, then what other response could there be. Our only response, if we believe this, can be – OK, you’re in charge and I’ll follow you, step by step. This situation forced Mary to do some ruthless evaluation of her heart and it calls us to do the same. Who do you surf for? Really…
