Commitment

05.05.08

We have all heard the interviews with the wild men that do tow surfing. Do you see the seriousness in their faces as they discuss the commitment to each other? "We go out prepared to lay our lives down for each other." Wow, that's commitment.

Sometimes I hear Christians say that they are stoked on Jesus but not so keen on other Christians. Is that really an option? You see, when those tow surfers go out to do battle with supersized bombs they can't be divided. God as a perfect Dad says that He doesn't want His children hating on each other. In Romans 12:10 it says, "Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves."

When Jesus came, were we so cool that we deserved the love He showed us? No, just the opposite. We were His enemy but He honored us above Himself. He put our needs above His own and in so doing, showed that He was DEVOTED to us. What about you? I didn't say, do other Christians get on your nerves? I didn't say, do you disagree with other followers of Jesus? Those things aren't the top priority. God said, be devoted to others that are followers of Jesus and honor them above yourself.

Why not think about a way to honor your Heavenly Dad by honoring His children this week.

Who do you surf for?
