What hinders God from answering our prayers for Him to rescue lost surfers?
One clear item is SIN. In Psalm 66:18 we read, “If I had cherished sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened.” This same idea is repeated elsewhere in Scripture. Sin interferes with our relationship with God. This is why God offers us the solution of confession. In 1 John 1:9 it states that, “If we confess our sins, HE is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us…”
The idea is simple: as long as we argue with God about our being right and HIM being wrong, prayer is silly. But, when we agree with God that we are wrong and of course have a change of mind about it, now God can resolve the problem. God cannot relationally forgive that which we deny as wrong, because we are not asking for forgiveness but rather arguing with God that we’re right.
So, in our prayer movement to see God do the unimaginable among surfers there is a need for holiness. If you are living in known sin I challenge you to stop arguing with God that what you have is better than what He wants to offer you. Admit you’re wrong and He is right. Let your actions align with this new thinking. And then run to your Heavenly Daddy and ask Him to move in the hearts of surfers to free them the same way He just freed you.
