Ephesians 2:8-9
“God saved you by HIS special favor (Grace) when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.” -NLT
I was heading to the beach for an afternoon session in Cape Cod when I realized I was out of wax. I ducked into a shop and started looking around for the wax basket. The girl behind the counter could see what I was doing and pointed me in the right direction along with saying, “just grab a bar, it’s on the house”. Whoa, I was so stoked! This is kind of like what God has done for us in giving us salvation, but not entirely.
You see, it would be more like if I robbed that surf shop, burned it down and killed the employees and then they gave me free stuff. God didn’t just hook us up. He paid, through death on the cross, for his enemies (us) to be set free. What an unbelievable gift! That’s how Awesome He is. The more I realize how great He is the less I’m worried about turning it all over to Him. To me, it makes sense to let someone like that run our lives rather than us running them and messing them all up. Who do you surf for?
